Māori Research

BRNZ is committed to the principles of Mātauranga Māori, to respecting Māori knowledge, encouraging Māori participation in research, and reinforcing Māori perspectives in science. Not only are the voices of Māori important for furthering scientific research, but also to ensure that the differences between Māori and non-Māori are accounted for when considering new diagnostic tools and therapies.

BRNZ is proud to have a highly talented pool of Māori researchers, who are working with Māori to develop a new diagnostic tool for dementia that is specifically for Māori, as well as new therapeutic tools, services and treatments which integrate Māori cultural practices and beliefs. By combining kaupapa Māori and western science, our research will lead to positive health outcomes for Māori and give voice to our Māori partners.
